Jharsuguda Cyber Crime & Economic Offences Police Station has successfully solved a cyber harassment case and arrested the accused within 8 hours of registration of the case.
On 20.06.2026, a complaint was received from a 23-year-old woman of Belpahar alleging that a fake Instagram profile and Facebook account had been created in her name and obscene photographs were uploaded on social media, causing harassment and defamation.
Accordingly, Cyber PS Case No. 22/2026 dated 20.06.2026 was registered under Sections 78(1)(ii), 79 & 319(2) BNS read with Section 67 of the IT Act.
Acting swiftly, the Cyber Police conducted a technical investigation, identified the accused as Sujit Sahu (25), S/o Subodh Sahu of Jhunadihi, Belpahar, Jharsuguda, and arrested him within 8 hours of registration of the case. The accused has been forwarded to the Hon'ble Court.
