In a significant conviction under POCSO Act, the Hon’ble Court of Addl. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Special Court, Jharsuguda, in C.T (Spl.) Case No. 53/2025, arising out of Brajrajnagar PS Case No. 140 dated 30.06.2025, has convicted accused Pankaj Podh and Anu Bag.
The case pertains to heinous sexual assault on a minor girl aged about 4 years on 27.06.2025. Based on investigation, charges were framed under relevant provisions of BNS, POCSO Act, and JJ Act.
The Court convicted accused Pankaj Podh under Sections 65(2), 64(2)(f), 115(2) BNS r/w Section 6(1) POCSO Act and sentenced him to imprisonment for life with fine, along with additional RI of 1 year. Accused Anu Bag was convicted under Sections 115(2) BNS, Section 21 POCSO Act and Section 75 JJ Act, and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment up to 2 years with fine.
The conviction highlights prompt investigation, effective prosecution, and strong commitment of Jharsuguda Police towards protection of children and ensuring justice in crimes against minors.
