In a major crackdown under Operation Netra, Jharsuguda Police conducted a raid at Mahakal Dhaba located near Beherapat Chowk along SH-10, leading to the seizure of contraband ganja and a large quantity of foreign liquor. The raid was carried out on October 7, 2025, following reliable intelligence inputs regarding the illegal sale of ganja cigarettes and unlawful storage of ganja and liquor.
Acting on the direction of the Superintendent of Police, Jharsuguda, and under the supervision of the SDPO, Jharsuguda and IIC, Sadar Police Station, the enforcement team reached the spot and conducted a search operation. During the raid, police recovered 2 kg 335 grams of ganja along with a blue plastic drum and a substantial stock of foreign liquor.

12 bottles of Budweiser Beer
34 cans of Carlsberg Beer
12 cans of Kingfisher Beer
15 bottles of Royal Stag Whisky
5 bottles of Royal Challenge Whisky
9 bottles of McDowell’s No.1 Whisky
10 bottles of Bacardi Lemon Rum
10 bottles of Imperial Blue Whisky
10 bottles of Rockford Classic Whisky
24 bottles of McDowell’s No.1 Rum
2 bottles of Blenders Pride Whisky
Following due procedures under the NDPS Act and the Orissa Excise Act, all items were seized from the spot. One person, identified as Ankit Pandit (34), son of Subhash Pandit, resident of Buromal, Jharsuguda, was apprehended in connection with the case.
A case has been registered at Jharsuguda Sadar Police Station under Case No. 423 dated 07.10.2025, U/s 20(b)(ii)(B) NDPS Act read with Section 52(a) of the Orissa Excise Act. The investigation is currently underway, and the accused will be produced before the Hon’ble Court tomorrow.
Authorities stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal narcotics and liquor trade in the district under Operation Netra.
