
Under OPERATION NETRA in an important development against narcotics trafficking, today Jharsuguda police have successfully detected a Ganja/Marijuana case involving accused persons from other District. Acting on credible intelligence regarding illegal transportation of contraband substances, a special team was formed under the supervision of senior officers. Due to immediate and coordinated action, the officers/staffs of Jharsuguda Police Station intercepted the accused persons in possession of Ganja /Marijuana in a Hotel, near station square, Jharsuguda. During raid Police recovered commercial quantities of Ganja/Marijuana from the possession of the accused persons. The contraband was seized in presence of Executive Magistrate and witnesses following the procedure of NDPS Act, and the accused persons were detained. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused persons were operating as part of an inter-state narcotics trafficking network. They were procuring the contraband from one location and transporting them to other states for their monetary gain.
On this the above noted case was registered and further investigation is going on. The accused persons shall be produced in the Hon’ble Court today.
